The Hayfield girls basketball team had a halftime lead slip away as it lost 54-45 to Medford (4-0 overall, 3-0 Gopher) in Hayfield Tuesday.

The Tigers used an early second half spurt to erase a three-point Hayfield lead as they were led by Emma Kniefel, who finished with 26 points.

“We had no answer for her tonight,” Hayfield co-head coach Kasey Krekling said of Kniefel.

Elecia Brown paced the Vikings (2-4 overall, 1-2 Gopher) with 14 points.
