Allan J. Schabert, 74, of Austin, Minnesota, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, Nov. 26, 2018.

He was born Sept. 26, 1944, in South St. Paul, Minnesota, the son of Clem and Anna (Kunza) Schabert. Allan grew up in Austin and graduated from Pacelli High School. He served his country in the U.S. Navy for four years, then returned to Austin, where he worked for the Austin Utilities and water works, retiring in 2011. On May 8, 1982, he was united in marriage to Beverly (Olson) Iverson at Crane Chapel in Austin. The couple enjoyed their horses and their home near the Jay C. Hormel Nature Center. Bev passed away on March 11, 2010.  Allan’s other interests included horse racing, traveling, and playing card games, cribbage and bingo. He was a member of Queen of Angels Catholic Church. His family and friends will miss him dearly.

Survivors include many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Allan was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Beverly; one brother; and two sisters.

A celebration of Allan’s life will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 17, 2018, at the Hormel Historic Home in Austin. Visitation will be from 4:00-5:30 p.m. immediately preceding the service at the Hormel Historic Home. Memorials can be directed to recipient of donor’s choice.
