Y’s Womens Club

Y’s Women met Nov. 8 at the Hormel Historic Home with 17 members in attendance.

Sharon Decker was welcomed as a new member and Karen Schaub was a guest.

Ted Maxfield, director of the Austin YMCA, gave an informative and interesting talk on the new recreation center. He also showed slides on the impressive building. It is scheduled to open in late 2019.

Y’s Women will sponsor a luncheon and card party Nov. 15 at the Hormel Home.

Hostesses were Marlene Fox and Donna Maas.

The next meeting will be a Christmas party at 5 p.m. on Dec. 13 with an hors d’oeuvre pot luck.  Members will contribute to the HyVee holidays dinners. We will also bring a gift for the gift exchange.

Duplicate Bridge

Nov. 6, nine teams played. First place, Gail and Ray Schmidt; second place, Theresa Baldus and Harriet Oldenberg; third place, Lorraine Lippert and Ron Peters; fourth place, Joyce Crowe and Millie Seiver.

Nov. 7, nine teams played. First place, Tom Flaherty and Stan Schultz; second place, Larry Crowe and Jim Fisher; third place, Eunice Michaelis and Dave Ring; fourth place, John Leisen and Rich Stroup; fifth place, Carolyn Higgins and Connie Johnson.

Sessions are played at the Mower County Senior Center. Call Joyce at 1-507-437-2750 if you would like to play. Both sessions have a charge, which in turn is given to winners.
