Marvin George Moe, 91, of Austin, Minnesota, joined his beloved wife, Luella Moe, and son, Dale, in heaven on Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2018, at The Waters on Mayowood in Rochester, Minnesota.
He was born March 26, 1927, in St. Ansgar, Iowa, to Walter A. and Matta M. (Sinn) Moe. Marvin was baptized into our Lord’s family on July 3, 1927, at St. Ansgar Methodist Church and was confirmed on Dec. 15, 1950, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in St. Ansgar. He graduated from St.
Ansgar High School in 1945. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army as bandsman and chief clerk for the 324th Ordinance Training Center Band in Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland. Staff Sgt. Moe was released from active duty on Oct. 31, 1946. After his service, Marvin attended the American Institute of Business College in Des Moines, Iowa, until June 1948 and was employed by Hormel Foods Corporation as a payroll accountant from July 1948 until his retirement in April 1991. On Dec. 17, 1950, he married Luella Mae Jordan at Immanuel Lutheran Church in St. Ansgar. In 1950, shortly after their marriage, the couple moved to Austin, Minnesota and had four children: Dennis, Dale, Cynthia and Alan. Marvin was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Austin and a former member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church, where he served as President and Elder and on various church committees. He enjoyed singing with the St. John’s and Holy Cross choirs and served as Scrip Coordinator for Holy Cross Lutheran School from September 1998 through June 2004. Marvin will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. As a follower of Jesus Christ, he is now rejoicing, and we know we shall meet again.
