Delmar Eugene Lee, 81

Delmar Eugene Lee, 81, passed away suddenly at his home in Las Vegas, Nevada, on Wednesday, July 25, 2018.

Delmar was the son of Jerald and Ruby Lee, formerly of Sargent, Minnesota. He was born Jan. 25, 1937, on the family farm near Sargent. He was one of eight children.

Delmar attended country schools and graduated from Hayfield High School in 1952. As a young man, he shared his love for music while singing in the choir at Evanger Lutheran Church in rural Sargent. He also sang at weddings and many special occasions. Delmar also enjoyed playing his guitar in a small home band made up of his brothers and a sister.

In 1953, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. After boot camp, he attended a military school in Tennessee and graduated top of his class. He was then stationed in Hawaii, where he maintained military aircraft. After his honorable discharge, he made his home in Glendale, California. There he attended college and obtained a degree in accounting. Delmar also worked for the post office in Glendale in his later years.

On Sept. 27, 1970, he married Danielle Blanke of Los Angeles, California, at Evanger Lutheran Church. In 1981, they were blessed with a daughter, Erika. Delmar and Danielle were later divorced. Delmar and his daughter moved to Las Vegas, where he was living at the time of his death.

Along with music Delmar enjoyed travelling, spending time with his family, and studying and researching the Bible.

Delmar is survived by two brothers, Erling (Lucille) Lee of Zumbro Falls, Minnesota, and Donald Lee of Claremont, Minnesota; 17 nieces and nephews; and many great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Erika, in 2016; his parents; three sisters; two brothers; three sisters-in-law; two brothers-in-law; and two nieces.

Delmar’s funeral will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 17, 2018, at Evanger Lutheran Church in rural Sargent with Pastor Dwight Dobell officiating. Visitation will be one hour before the service on Saturday at the church. Burial with full military honors will be at noon on Monday, Nov. 19, 2018, at the Veterans Cemetery in Preston, Minnesota.
