Blossoms top USC to advance to state semis

NEW ULM – The Awesome Blossoms are back in the Minnesota Class A State Semifinals for the first time since 2011.

Blooming Prairie advanced in dominant fashion as it controlled both sides of the ball in a 42-0 win over United South Central in the state quarterfinals in New Ulm High School Saturday.

BP will now take on BOLD in the state semifinals in USBank Stadium in Minneapolis at 9 a.m. Saturday.

“I think everyone on the team has been wanted to play at the Dome or in the Bank since we can remember,” BP senior lineman Trenton Swenson said. It’s been a goal for me since we started playing football. Everything we’ve worked for from fifth grade until now is starting to pay off.”

Gabe Hagen had 154 receiving yards and two touchdowns in the win for BP (12-0 overall) and he also ran a fumble back 82 yards for a score.
