Candidate Jason Baskin received the go-ahead from Second Ward voters on Tuesday to replace retiring Councilman David Hagen.

Baskin, who ran unopposed, announced his candidacy in July.

“It’s humbling to have the honor to serve our community,” he told the Herald. “I look forward to working together to move Austin forward.”

A native of Austin, Baskin works in marketing for Hormel Foods. He currently chairs the Austin Human Rights Commission and is a member of APEX Austin, Austin ASPIRES, and a volunteer youth soccer coach.
