Rebels grind to 2nd round: Southland now moves on to face Blooming Prairie Saturday

The No. 4 seeded Southland football team started off strong and it beat No. 5 Fillmore Central (4-5 overall) by a score of 25-12 in a Section 1A quarterfinal matchup in Adams Tuesday.

The Rebels (5-4 overall) led 19-6 at the half.

“We had a great win tonight,” Southland head coach Shawn Kennedy said. “That was huge for our program.”

Carter Schmitz had 12 tackles, 68 rushing yards and a TD for Southland and Noah Sayles ran for 78 yards and a score.

The Rebels will play top-seeded Blooming Prairie in BP at 7 p.m. Saturday.
