Packer volleyball team swept by Northfield

The Austin volleyball team ran into the best team it will likely face this season as it lost to Northfield by scores of 25-12, 25-11, 25-11 in Packer Gym Thursday.

The Big Nine champion Raiders (20-4 overall, 11-0 Big Nine), who are ranked No. 9 in Class AA, took control of the match when they jumped out to a 10-1 lead in the second game.

“When we have an opponent like this, it shows where you where you need to be when competing with the top teams in the state,” Austin head coach Lauren Cost said. “We need to play matches like this.”

Lily Holtz had four kills for the Packers (6-17 overall, 3-8 Big Nine).
