Jack H. Horstmann, 83, of Austin, Minnesota, died Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2018, at Good Samaritan Society of Albert Lea.
Jack was born May 23, 1935, in Holloway, Minnesota. On Jan. 17, 1959, he married Charlotte Irvin at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Austin. Jack and Charlotte were married for 49 years until her death in 2008. Jack spent most of his working career at American Can Company in Austin. In addition to raising four sons, Jack had many hobbies, including riding his motorcycle, buying and selling cars, taking care of his dogs and fishing. Jack was truly a man with many talents. There wasn’t anything he couldn’t fix and he will be missed by many.
Survivors include his four sons, Jim (Marylee) of Eden Prairie, Minnesota, Jon of Kellogg, Minnesota, Joe (Shari) of Northfield, Minnesota, and Jeff (Tesa) of Austin; six grandchildren, Katie, Kyle, Jacob, Joshua, Ethan and Evan; and a sister, Jackie Pike, Austin.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hank and Margaret Horstmann; and wife, Charlotte A. Horstmann.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 12, 2018, at Mayer Funeral Home with Pastor Dennis Tamke officiating. Friends may call from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 11, 2018, and one hour before the service on Friday at Mayer Funeral Home. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
His last days were spent in his home under the care of Seasons Hospice and the loving support of brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bruce and Charmaine Turner.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the American Cancer Society.
