The last of the year’s steak cookouts sponsored by the Austin chapter of the Izaak Walton League will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday at Todd Park in Austin.
A special feature of the event will be the new Mower County Soil and Water District’s new, no-tillage drill which will be on display at the Ike’s Cabin during the cookout.
The Izaak Walton League, along with Austin Audubon, Friends of the Hormel Nature Center and Mower County Habitat and Pheasants Forever provided funding support to purchase the seed drill. The drill provides local landowners with a low-cost option to plant prairie, cover crops and pasture to support clean water and habitat development.
The cookouts are the main fundraising events for the league. The menu includes a 10-ounce sirloin steak, baked potato, cole slaw, bun and fresh vegetables. Tickets are $12 and the public is invited.
Proceeds from the event benefit the Minnesota Division of the Izaak Walton League and their efforts to support statewide clean water initiatives, wetland conservation and habitat protection.
