Hill pleads not guilty to felony child porn charges; Images and videos allegedly found on phone

Evan Jon Hill, 24, of Bayport pleaded not guilty on Monday in Mower County District Court to 10 counts of felony possession of child pornography by a registered predatory offender and nine counts of felony dissemination of child pornography by a registered predatory offender.

Hill was charged on Oct. 9 after law enforcement allegedly found 83 images and nine videos depicting child pornography or nude children on a cell phone hidden under a couch cushion at a residence where Hill was staying. Court documents state law enforcement agents saw a cell phone charger hanging from a wall outlet in Hill’s bedroom.

Hill is on probation for a prior conviction for possession of pornographic work involving minors and is not allowed to have devices capable of accessing the internet without permission from the Department of Corrections.

Court documents state Hill admitted to ownership of the phone, telling a detective that there were multiple pornographic images and videos of children, that he obtained from “someone” on a “Kik Messenger” application, hidden in a secret folder on the phone.

A pre-trial for Hill has been scheduled for Feb. 15, 2019, with a jury trial scheduled for Feb. 25.
