Don Eugene Byers, 85, of Austin, Minnesota, died Saturday, Oct. 20, 2018, at St. Mark’s Living in Austin.

Don was born on Jan. 6, 1933, in Westbrook, Minnesota, to Adelbert and Freida (Skjong) Byers. He married Mavis Kuehn on Feb. 19, 1962, in Brookings, South Dakota. He was a member of Christian Victory Church of Austin. Don did many things in his life; he was a truck driver, mechanic, and owned and operated Byers’ Tree Service. Don loved the outdoors, the woods, and especially enjoyed deer hunting trips up north with his brothers, cousins and sons. He could often be found working in his garage, where he liked making things. In his spare time, he enjoyed seeing Westerns on television and watching birds and squirrels.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters; and three brothers.

Don is survived by his wife, Mavis Byers, Austin; children, Mark (Robyn) Byers, Austin, Tim (Leann) Byers, Faribault, Minnesota, Cindy (Tim) Ketzenberg, Windom, Minnesota, Rick (Dawn) Byers, Westbrook, Minnesota, Julie Byers, Sioux City, Iowa, Susan (Bill) Schmitz, Prior Lake, Minnesota, Joe (Sandra) Byers, Austin, Jim (Amy) Byers, Austin, Ellie Byers (Dan), Shoreview, Minnesota, and Emmie (Kory) Bolin, Red Wing, Minnesota; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; siblings, Doralyn (Don) Foster, Willmar, Minnesota, Dene (Brooke) Byers, Milaca, Minnesota, Carol (Jim) Kluver, Blue Earth, Minnesota, and Marjorie (Mark) Knutson Fairmont, Minnesota; nieces, nephews and cousins.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2018, at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary with the Rev. Raymond Tuck officiating. Visitation will be one hour before the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
