If you live with diabetes and would like to improve your health and sense of well-being, this class is for you.

From 1-3:30 p.m. on Monday will be the first of a six week program — “Living Well with Diabetes.”

These classes run every Monday for the next six weeks. Even if you know you cannot attend every class, sign up if this could benefit you. Participants make weekly action plans, share experiences and help each other solve problems as they carry out their self-management program. Family members, friends and partners are welcome.

AMP

At 2 p.m on Tuesday is our next aging mastery program (AMP).

This class is on Intergenerational connections. Peggy Young from Riverland Community College is the speaker. Reflect on a time when you had a positive connection with a person from another generation, either older or younger. Who was it? Why was it memorable?

Strengthening social connectedness is core to the Aging Mastery Program. Forming intergenerational connections is a wonderful way for you to give back to our community and to the next generation. Intergenerational connections are relationships or experiences that bring together individuals of different generations. This is a very informative class and we urge everyone that can to attend. No matter what age you are you are never too old to learn.

Halloween party

At noon on Friday, Oct. 26, is our Halloween party.

Join us for the Halloween dinner; wear your costumes for a chance to win a prize. This year we are serving ratloaf, jack-o-lanterns, mummy potatoes and choice of dessert. Member cost is $7.50, non member $8.50. If you are interested in attending this or either of the above interesting and informative classes, please stop by the Mower County Senior Center or call 1-507-433-2370 to sign up.

Don’t forget our coffee shop where every day you can have homemade soup for $1 and sandwich for 50 cents. Tuesday we are having Company Hotdish in the coffee shop for only $2.
