Arnold O. Johnson, 93, of Austin, Minnesota, died Friday, Oct. 12, 2018, at the Adams Health Care Center in Adams, Minnesota.

Arnold Odean Johnson was born March 22, 1925, in Austin, the son of Oscar and Bernice (Roberts) Johnson. He graduated from Austin High School and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Arnold married Norma Beatrice Opsahl on Oct. 5, 1947, at the St. Olaf Lutheran Church parsonage in Austin. They made their home in the Lyle, Minnesota, and the Austin area while Arnold worked at the Geo. A. Hormel Co. and farmed.

Arnold was a member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Moose Club. He enjoyed farming, raising animals, reading westerns, playing cards, fishing, hunting, bowling, playing pool and horseshoes.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Bernice Johnson; wife, Norma; brothers, Burnett and Dale Johnson; stepmother, Agnes Johnson; and stepsister, Dorothy Einertson.

Arnold is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Sandra and Lee Lindquist, Austin, and Vicki Johnson and Don Clark, Gardner, Montana; his son, Arnie Dean Johnson, Mapleview, Minnesota; six grandchildren, Tamara (Troy) Woods, St. Ansgar, Iowa, Jolane (Scott) Hansen, Toeterville, Iowa, Holli (Douglas) Naatz, Blooming Prairie, Minnesota, Oscar Lindquist, Brooklyn, New York, Carl Lindquist, Austin, and Arne Dean Johnson, Mapleview; 10 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; brother, Charles E. Johnson, Austin; and nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 15, 2018, at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary with the Rev. Scott Meyer officiating. Interment was at Grandview Cemetery. Visitation was held one hour before the service. Austin Post 91 American Legion and Olaf B. Damm Post 1216 Veterans of Foreign Wars were in charge of military rites.
