At 1 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 8 is the first of a two-part series, “Organizing Your (After) Life” estate planning. Ever wondered what probate is? Or what a will is? What does a trust actually do?

Join attorney Jennifer Gumbel to find out the answers to these common questions. Learn ways to minimize issues that can arise upon death, so that your loved ones might avoid unnecessary problems.

Also on Monday, starting at 4:30 p.m., there will be an eight-hour first class for defensive driving. This is a two-part series from 4:30 – 8:30 p.m. Monday and Tuesday. If you have never taken the eight-hour defensive driving class for the 10 percent discount on your insurance now is your chance. The cost is members $20 and non-members $23.

From 9:30-11:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 9, we are hosting flu shots. Anyone is welcome to attend. Make sure you bring all your insurance cards or cash/check for the shots. Medicap will have the Flu shot, Tetanus shot, Pneumonia shot and Shingles shot available at the Senior Center. That same day, at 2 p.m. is our next aging mastery program (AMP). This class is on Medication Management. Chris Meyer, Medicap Pharmacist is the speaker.

Have you ever had a problem with your medications? Some common problems include confusion when taking many medications, forgetting to take medications, experiencing undesirable side effects such as dizziness and sleepiness, and not having enough money to pay for needed prescription and over-the-counter medications. Medication problems are very common and growing, especially among older adults. Serious medical issues can result from improper use of all types of medications. It is critical to learn how to take your medications safely. No matter what age you are you are never too old to learn.

At 2 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 11, we will be having a class on Body Donation by Shaun Heath with the Mayo Clinic.

Thank you for considering donating your body to Mayo Clinic to support medical education. The study of human anatomy is one of the most important courses in the education of physicians, nurses and all health care professionals. The need for body donations is great and each gift is valued, honored and respected. If you would like to hear more about body donation and you are interested in attending this or any of these interesting and informative classes please stop by the senior center or call 1-507-433-2370 to sign up.

Don’t forget our coffee shop where every day you can have homemade soup for $1 and sandwich for 50 cents. Tuesday we are having hamburger stroganoff in the coffee shop for only $2.
