6 finalists vying for Mower County Administrator

Apart from the upcoming elections, another equally important position is also undergoing intense processes to fill it: county administrator.

Mower County announced its six finalists, of which one will become the new county administrator and succeed retired County Coordinator Craig Oscarson, who formerly retired last month.

Interviews with the finalists are set for Monday, Nov. 19.

Warren Brown

Brown currently serves as the Director of Human Resources/Loss Prevention/Revenue Enhancement for Huron County in Ohio. He had been employed there for three years and previously served as Township Manager for Oakland Charter Township in Michigan for seven months.

For five years, Brown had been employed as Sandusky County Administrator in Ohio for five years and was Clerk of Courts for nine years. He held other positions in public and private sectors and holds a bachelor’s degree in education.

Michael Cramer

Cramer is the Town Manager for the Town of Carolina Beach, North Carolina. He had been serving in this capacity for five years, and prior to this, Cramer was the city manager for the City of Menominee, Michigan, and held several positions for the City of Greensboro, North Carolina, where he was employed for 16 years.The last 11 were spent as the business and operations division manager. Cramer has a bachelor’s degree in political science and a master’s degree in public affairs.

Brian Gramentz

The New Ulm City Manager had been employed with the city for 17 years and served as city administrator for the City of Hudson, Wisconsin, city manager for the City of Sioux Center, Iowa, city administrator for the City of Winsted, Minnesota, and the city administrator, clerk and treasurer for the City of Eagle Lake, Minnesota. Gramentz holds a bachelors and masters degree in public administration.

James Halasz

Halifax County Administrator James Halasz most recently served Halifax County in Virginia for six years. Halasz served as deputy city manager for the City of Staunton, Virginia, for 12 years, village manager for the Village of Paw Paw, Michigan, for five years and for three years served as village manager for the Village of Milford, Michigan. He holds a bachelor of arts degree as well as a master’s degree in public administration.

Trish Harren

Harren recently served as elementary director for the Warroad Elementary School in Warroad, Minnesota, where she was employed for almost a year. Before that, Harren was county administrator for Itasca County, Minnesota, for five years, county coordinator for Roseau County, Minnesota, for seven years and the Victim Services Coordinator for Roseau County, Minnesota, for three years. Harren holds a bachelor’s degree in education and a master’s degree in human development.

Chris Ziegler

Ziegler serves as the city administrator, clerk and treasurer for the City of Winnebago, Minnesota, and had served in the position for six years. Before that, Ziegler worked for Human Services of Faribault and Martin Counties in Minnesota for five years. He also held positions at the City of Winnebago/Winnebago Chamber of Commerce and Knights of Columbus Insurance/Minnesota Financial Services. Ziegler holds a bachelor’s degree in finance.
