Todd Allen Lewis, 64

Todd Allen Lewis, 64 of Dothan, Alabama, formerly of Austin, Minnesota, passed away Monday, Sept. 17, 2018, at Mayo Clinic Hospital, Saint Marys Campus-Rochester.

Todd was born April 28, 1954, at the Fort Sam Houston Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas, the son of Robert E. and Iris C. (Helebrant) Lewis. He attended Austin High School before moving on to graduate from high school in Colorado Springs, Colorado. On July 7, 1973, Todd and Jean Harber were united in marriage at Red Oak Grove Lutheran Church. Together they raised two children. Todd entered the U.S. Army in February 1973. He served in the Artillery at Fort Carson, Colorado, and then continued serving his country in Korea and Fort Lewis, Washington, before becoming a recruiter in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Minneapolis, Minnesota, and Dothan, Alabama. Upon retiring from the military, Todd received his bachelor of arts degree in sociology and criminal justice from Troy University. He worked at the Alabama Head Injury Foundation for three years before working at the House of Ruth, a domestic violence center, for another three years. From there, Todd became employed as a facility manager for Harvest Church, where he was a member, and then worked as a substance abuse counselor at the Houston Treatment Center. He had a passion for woodworking. In addition to his impressive work and military career, Todd celebrated 21 years of sobriety. He enjoyed his leisure time with his family as well as occasionally playing the role of Santa Claus for the Harley dealership in Dothan. Todd will be dearly missed by his loving family and many friends.

Survivors include his wife, Jean Lewis of Dothan, Alabama; his daughter, Amy Lewis; and his son, Allen (Ranay) Lewis, both of Dothan, Alabama; two grandchildren, Haley and Taylor; three foster grandchildren, Tirah, Brooklyn, and Autumn; his brother, Cory Lewis of Rochester, Minnesota; his sister, Bobbe (Mike) Bartley of Brookings, South Dakota; brothers and sisters-in-law, Mike (Delores) Harber of Austin, Dan (Liz) Harber of Waseca, Minnesota, Tom (Tammy) Harber of Blooming Prairie, Minnesota, and Denise (Mike) Fogarty of Rochester; and his dogs, Emmitt, J.J., and Gracie. Todd was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Terry Lewis; his sister-in-law, Nancy Schwartz; and his in-laws, Robert and Doris Harber.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 20, 2018, at Red Oak Grove Lutheran Church in rural Austin with the Rev. Lindsay Brennan officiating. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2018, at Worlein Funeral Home in Austin and one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the church. Interment with military honors by American Legion Post 91 and VFW Post 1216 will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 21, 2018, at Udolpho Cemetery in rural Austin.
