The Austin Police Department is looking for any information on the individuals seen in surveillance footage taken from the Hiawatha Bar when it was burglarized on July 22.

According to Austin Police Chief Brian Krueger, someone flagged down an officer patrolling in the east side bar area at 4:01 a.m. and said the west door of the Hiawatha Bar was open. The officer was told two individuals had been seen in the area.

The officer cleared the building and found no one inside. A member of the bar’s management staff arrived after receiving an alert that motion sensors had been triggered while the police were searching the building. The manager noticed the smaller of two safes, containing an undisclosed amount of cash and checks, was missing.

According to Austin Detective Patrick Retterath, other law enforcement agencies have provided footage of the suspects taken after burglaries at DeToy’s Family Restaurant in Morris, a country club in Burlington, Iowa, and a Cenex in New Salem, North Dakota.

Anyone who can identify the suspects is asked to call the Mower County Law Enforcement Center at 507-437-9400. Calls can be made anonymously.
