ST.PAUL – Minnesota AgriGrowth, in partnership with WCCO Radio and the Minnesota Corn Growers, will host the “Greater Minnesota Debate” between Hennepin County Commissioner Jeff Johnson and Congressman Tim Walz. The event will take place live at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 9, at the MinnWest Technology Campus in Willmar.

“AgriGrowth is proud of our long standing tradition of public policy engagement and advocacy on behalf of the ag and food production sectors in Minnesota,” said Gene Hugoson, interim Executive Director for AgriGrowth. “Co-sponsoring this debate for our members and the voters of Greater Minnesota was a natural partnership we gladly accepted and look forward to participating in with topic and question selection.”

AgriGrowth and it’s members cover the range of agriculture and food production from growers at the farm level, to international food manufacturing and distributing companies, and all of the supporting businesses along the production chain.

“We believe it is critically important for the voters of Greater Minnesota, along with all Minnesota voters, to have the opportunity to ask our next governor the key questions on agriculture practices, tax policy, water, regulation relief, workforce shortages as well as a number of other concerns,” Hugoson said. “This debate is meant to get to the kernel of those questions from the candidates and with as little chaff as possible.”
