George was born March 19, 1958, in Osage, Iowa, the son of Sylvan and Virginia (Rohde) Faas, and attended school in St. Ansgar. On May 18, 1985, George was united in marriage to Bonnie Yetman at Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Lyle, Minnesota. Their union was blessed with three children. George started driving trucks in his late teens, spending 10 years driving for his father’s business, Faas Transport. After 10 years working for his father, he started a three-year stint with Koch and then three years with Croell Redi-Mix. George finished his 40-plus years as a truck driver working for J&R Ransom Trucking, retiring in October 2017 when he was diagnosed with cancer. George enjoyed his over-the-road travels in “truck number 121.”  While driving for Ransom, he traveled through many southern states, including Kentucky, Tennessee, Arkansas, Alabama and Georgia. George enjoyed spending his leisure time outdoors camping, fishing, gardening and doing lawn work. He loved listening to his music albums. He and Bonnie belonged to Queen of Peace Catholic Church. George will be dearly missed by his loving family and many friends.

Survivors include his wife Bonnie, of St. Ansgar; his children, Joshua Faas of Rochester, Minnesota, Jon Faas and Chelsea Faas, both of St. Ansgar; a sister, Betty (Richard) Rosenberg of St. Ansgar; two brothers, Greg (Mindy) Faas of Osage, Iowa, and Gary (Kelly) Faas of Lyle.
