Police are looking for the driver of either a black SUV or black Jeep Cherokee that struck another car on 10th Avenue Southwest, causing it to run into a house.

According to Austin Police Chief Brian Krueger, a Mower County Deputy assisted on a call at 3:03 p.m. on Tuesday regarding a car running into a house on 10th Avenue Southwest. When the deputy arrived, he saw a red SUV had careened into the northwest corner of a house in the 600 block of 10th Avenue Southwest.

The driver said she was driving on 10th Avenue Southwest when a black SUV going at a high rate of speed struck her car, causing it to hit the house. The black SUV then continued westbound on 10th Avenue Southwest and fled the scene.

There were three passengers in the red SUV, but no injuries were reported and none sought medical attention, Krueger said.

A witness said the vehicle that struck the red SUV might have been a black Jeep Cherokee. The witness was unable to see if the driver was a male or female.

Anyone with information on the driver of the black vehicle is asked to call the Mower County Law Enforcement at 507-437-9400. Calls can be made anonymously.
