Blossoms beat Randolph in four

BLOOMING PRAIRIE — The Blooming Prairie volleyball team started slow, but it was able to hold off Randolph (0-5 overall) by scores of 25-21, 23-25, 25-20, 25-13 in BP Monday.

The Awesome Blossoms (7-7 overall) trailed 5-0 to start the first game and they rallied to take a 10-9 lead on a Julia Worke kill. The third game saw BP leading 19-17 when Micalyn Trihus, who had 17 kills, came up with back-to-back kills to her team in control.

I was a little bit off to get started and it can be hard to recover, but we figured it out as a team,” Trihus said.

Worke had 11 kills and 23 digs for BP and Heather Pirkl had 36 set assists. BP head coach Ranell Kittelson was pleased with her team’s effort.

I’m super proud that we came up with the win tonight,” Kittelson said. “Randolph showed up tough and they gave us a run for our money. They were scrappy and they put us back on our heels a little bit, I was glad we were able to run what we needed to run.”
