Law enforcement agents from the Austin Police Department, Mower County Sheriff’s Office and the Special Emergency Response Team assisted the Rochester Police Department in arresting a wanted Rochester man on Monday afternoon in Austin.
According to Austin Police Chief Brian Krueger, law enforcement executed a search warrant at 2:19 p.m. on Monday in the 3600 block of First Avenue Southwest, where they arrested Juan Paulo Martinez Jr., 20, of Rochester.
According to court documents, a warrant was issued on July 2 out of Olmsted County for Martinez’s arrest after his failure to appear at a June 25 hearing on charges of simple robbery, felony theft and two charges each of felony first-degree aggravated robbery and felony fifth-degree assault-two or more previous convictions in three years (he pled guilty to one count of fifth-degree assault in April).
A second warrant was issued on July 11 out of Olmsted County after Martinez failed to appear at a July 10 hearing on charges of felony possession of a firearm/firearm ammunition by a person convicted or adjudicated delinquent for a crime of violence and felony fifth-degree drug possession.
Two additional Olmsted County warrants were issued on July 18 for violating his probation on prior convictions of felony fifth-degree assault-two or more previous convictions in three years and felony domestic assault.
Krueger said the arrest occurred without incident.
