Mayo Clinic Health System welcomes new physician

Scott Riester, M.D., Ph.D. has joined the Occupational Medicine Department at Mayo Clinic Health System-Albert Lea and Austin.

Dr. Riester earned his medical degree at the University of Toledo College of Medicine in Toledo, Ohio. He also earned a Ph.D. in clinical and translational sciences at Mayo Clinic in Rochester. He completed an orthopedic surgery residency and a clinician investigator program at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, as well as an occupational medicine residency at HealthPartners in St. Paul, Minnesota.

“I am excited to have the opportunity to work closely with patients and local businesses, as well as my fellow healthcare team members at Mayo Clinic Health System, as we strive to provide the best medical care possible for our community members,” Dr. Riester said in a press release.

Dr. Riester has a special interest in occupational related musculoskeletal disorders. He also has research interests in clinical and translational sciences. Clinical and translational science involves moving scientific research from the bench to the bedside as quickly and as safely as possible so that new treatments can be made available to help treat and cure patients.
