Austin Just For Kix director attends annual convention

Austin Just For Kix director Marny Rohr attended the 2018 Just For Kix annual Convention with over 170 Just For Kix Youth Program directors from Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota, Texas, Iowa, Illinois, Wisconsin, Colorado, Oregon, Washington, Florida and South Dakota.

The 2018 Directors Convention was held at Forestview Middle School and The Legacy at Cragun’s Resort on June 24-26.

Rohr has been the Austin Just For Kix director for 24 years.

“Marny was in the inaugural Just For Kix class in Brainerd,” said owner Cindy Clough. “I have watched her grow up, coached her and mentored her. It has been so fun to see her success as a JFK director as well as a field coordinator for our company.”

Rohr directs the Austin JFK program as well as field coordinates southern Minnesota and northern Iowa for the corporate office.

“It has been wonderful to be able to make my passion my job as well as help others to do the same,” Rohr said. “And for it to be something that works with our youth in the community makes it a privilege.”

Austin JFK staff included Madaline Rohr, Katie McIntyre, Jessica Hovey, Jennifer Bastyr and Jennie Boysen.

Other area Just For Kix directors who participated were Elizabeth Thompson from Blooming Prairie, Carrie Murphy From Adams, Laura Perez from Grand Meadow and Rachel Dublin from Hayfield/Dodge Center.

The Convention offered multiple educational and programming classes to assist in furthering the director’s dance curriculum and sessions on resources for program development. One of the Director favorites is learning choreography for the upcoming performance season. Classes offered included hip hop, jazz, kick, lyrical and ballet.

For 32 years, Just For Kix has held a directors convention.Just For Kix orchestrates youth dance programs in 12 states at nearly 210 locations engaging over 22,000 youth dancers.

The Austin Just For Kix Dance program offers kick, jazz, hip hop, lyrical, ballet and tap with acro planned for the future. Austin offers dance classes for youth ages two years through 12th grade.
