Jean Dumke, 87

Jean Dumke, 87 of Austin, Minnesota, passed away Monday, Aug. 6, 2018, at Milestone Assisted Living in Faribault, Minnesota.

Norma Jean Krull was born on a family farm north of St. Michaels Church in rural, Waltham, Minnesota, on May 11, 1931, to Enno and Orma (Nemitz) Krull. She attended school in Austin and in Brownsdale, Minnesota. On June 26, 1949 Jean married Lyle Priebe. To their union, 3 children were born.

Jean enjoyed her role as a wife, mother and homemaker. Once her kids got older she worked at Sears in Austin. Lyle passed away in 1990. In 1991, she married Lewis Dumke. For 58 years Jean lived in Austin and then in April of 2014 she moved to Faribault, Minnesota where she resided.

Jean was a long time member of the Grace Lutheran Church in Austin. She was very dedicated to church and taught Sunday school for nine years and every Tuesday would quilt with the church quilting club. Jean loved to travel and traveled to 48 states. She also had a place in Florida where she had a love for picking shells along the beach with her sister Doris. Jean enjoyed reading, listening to southern gospel music especially Bill Gaither, keeping a clean house, and most of all the time spent with her beloved family and many friends. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Those left to cherish Jean’s memory are her children Rick (Diane Blanchard) Priebe of Pine Hurst, Idaho, Bill (Sharon) Priebe of Eagan, Minnesota, Joni (Rich) Karnopp of Elysian, Minnesota; step-children Brian (Kris) Dumke of Lancaster, California, Dale (Julia) Dumke of Lancaster, California, Glenda Dumke of Lancaster; five grandchildren Jeff (Amanda) Stuart, Ben (Nikki) Blanchard, Nick (Brynn Freyler) Priebe, Matt (Tabby) Priebe, Jen Priebe; eight step-grandchildren Callie (Bern) Eustice, Adam Karnopp, Molly (Daniel) Westby, Adam Dumke, Juliann Dumke, Chris Venwald, Joseph Dumke, Jonathan Dumke; two great grandchildren Ethyn Stuart, Payton Stuart; four step-grandchildren Emma Eustice, Jack Eustice, Alice Westby, Lucy Westby; brother Larry (Suzie) Krull of Nevis, Minnesota; many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents Enno and Orma Krull, infant great grandchild Kaedyn Priebe, brother Larry Krull, and sister Doris (George) Garbisch.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 11, 2018, at Grace Lutheran Church in Austin with Pastor Patrick Ziems Officiating. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Interment will be in St. Michael’s Cemetery, rural Waltham.
