Evelyn P. “Evie” Allgood, 79, of Austin, Minnesota, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2018, at her home.

Evelyn Pearl Wyant was born Oct. 13, 1938, in Austin, the daughter of Edward and Hazel (Wallem) Wyant. Following her 1957 graduation from Austin High School, she attended nursing school at the Vo-Tech in Austin and married Jimmie Allgood at on Dec. 28, 1962, at the Crane Chapel in Austin. The couple raised two children. Evelyn worked as a LPN at St. Olaf Hospital in Austin for over 41 years, 20 of those years in the surgical area. After her retirement from nursing, Evelyn worked at Hy-Vee for many years. Evelyn and Jimmie have lived in their present home for 52 years. Evelyn was a very family-oriented woman and enjoyed her roles as wife, mother, and nurse. She was always a busy person. In her leisure time, Evelyn enjoyed doing crafts, crocheting, knitting, ceramics, and making doll blankets. She also enjoyed time spent fishing and camping. In later years, she was an avid reader. Evelyn had been a member of Crane Chapel since the age of 13 and was active in the Sunday school program, youth group, and Vacation Bible School. She will be dearly missed by family and many friends.

Evelyn is survived by her husband, Jimmie of Austin; her children, Mike Allgood of Washington D.C. and Kim Barth (David Peterson) of South St. Paul, Minnesota; grandchildren, Tom and Matthew Barth; siblings, Gary Wyant of Dallas, Texas, and Linda (Fred) Drehobl of Chicago, Illinois; sisters-in-law, Leora Wyant of St. Augustine, Florida, and Joan Wyant of Pepin, Wisconsin; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Charles and Eddie Wyant; one sister, Bernice Molde; brother-in-law, Richard; and a brother and sister in infancy.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2018, at Crane Chapel in Austin with Pastor Dale Christiansen officiating. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 27, 2018, and for one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at Crane Chapel. Interment will be in Grandview Cemetery.
