The Mower County Dairy Princess and Court members will be serving 10-cent ice cream cones after the parade on Sunday at BP Food Shop and K&H Classic Stop.

Vendor space is still available in the Park. Any interested vendors can call Dave Perkins at 507-273-5815.

Watching “The Star” under the stars

Westminster Presbyterian Church will be showing the animated movie “The Star” at 8:45 p.m. on Saturday on the front lawn of the church.

“We’ve been trying to gear up our outreach to the community,” said Pastor Mike Olmsted. “We have some long established events and we were looking for an outreach component in the summer. Some members had the idea to do an outdoor movie night.”

“The Star” tells the story of the first Christmas from the perspective of the animals involved.

“We thought it was a natural tie-in to a movie under the stars,” Olmsted said. “We’re having Christmas in July.”

Olmsted said the church hopes to do similar events in the future, depending o the community response.

The movie will be shown on an inflatable screen on the front lawn. The event is free, as is the popcorn and lemonade that will be provided. In the event of rain, the screen will be moved inside.
