Two arrested in marijuana seizure: Over 90 grams allegedly found in residence

Darnell Jones, 28, and Armondo Jones, 19, were arrested on Thursday after law enforcement allegedly found bags of marijuana while executing a search warrant at their residence.

According to Austin Police Chief Brian Krueger, Austin Police officers, Mower County deputies and agents of the Southeast Minnesota Violent Crime Enforcement Team executed the warrant at 7:53 a.m. on Thursday on a residence in the 1800 block of East Oakland Avenue. They allegedly found a bag containing 42.65 grams of marijuana in one room and another bag containing 48.58 grams of marijuana in another room.

Some of the marijuana had been divided up into 15 smaller bags, according to Krueger. The marijuana was seized, as was an undisclosed amount of cash.

Darnell Jones was arrested during a similar raid on April 30 and has a prior conviction for user of a controlled substance in possession of a firearm.

Both will appear on Friday in Mower County District Court on charges of felony fifth-degree drug possession.
