Lorraine Phyliss (Friese) Munson passed away on June 28, 2018, at Field Crest Nursing Home in Hayfield, Minnesota.

Lorraine was born on June 5, 1924, to Albert and Genevieve (Ottum) Friese of Wanamingo, Minnesota. She married Arlin Munson on March 6, 1946, and moved to Hayfield.

Lorraine worked for the Bank of Wanamingo after graduation from high school. When her children were older she went to work at Lohn’s Red Owl in Hayfield. She worked there for 30 some years and will fondly be remembered by many there for her “sass” and great “sense of humor.” Lorraine was loved by all who ever met her. Lorraine had many passions; she loved to bowl, play cards, listen to music, and even played a little bit of guitar, harmonica and a few piano pieces. Lorraine loved to travel in their motor home and enjoyed many fishing trips, especially the many trips to Canada. She and her sister enjoyed antiquing and trips to varied casinos.

Lorraine loved family, her parents, her brothers, sisters, sisters and brothers-in-law, children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews. They were all special to her and she enjoyed spending time with them. Her humor and kindness will be missed.

Lorraine is survived by her children, Sharon (Dale) Westin, Colleen (Robert) Holtan, and Keith Munson; two brothers, Garvin and Roger Friese; sister, Shirley Strand; nine grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Arlin W. Munson; infant son, Wallace Arlin Munson; grandson, Eric Westin; two sisters; two brothers; and an infant brother.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, July 3, 2018, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hayfield with the Rev. Paul Hauschild officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Lunch will follow in the church basement. Burial will be at Fairview cemetery.
