Gail Lorenzen, 71, of Austin, Minnesota, died Wednesday, June 13, 2018, at Mayo Clinic Health System in Austin.

Gail Marie Simes was born May 26, 1947, in Austin to Glenn and Evelyn (Alberts) Simes. She attended and graduated from Grand Meadow High School in 1965. On Aug. 13, 1966, she was united in marriage to Dennis Lorenzen at the Grand Meadow Lutheran Church. Gail and Dennis moved to Austin in 1973. She worked for a short time at Mayo Clinic before working at Home Federal for 23 years and then at Sterling State Bank. Later, Gail worked at Schammel Electric before her retirement in January 2017.

She loved pottery, crocheting, and cross stitch, having made 20 afghans within the last year. Gail enjoyed watching HGTV. She was active as a Sunday school teacher at Grace Lutheran Church; she later became a member at St. Olaf Lutheran Church and was currently a member at Bear Creek Lutheran Church.

Gail is survived by her husband, Dennis of Austin; brothers, Jerry (Mildred) Simes of Austin and Glenn (Linda) Simes of North Port, Florida; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services for Gail will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 18, 2018, at Bear Creek Lutheran Church in Grand Meadow, Minnesota, with Pastor Larry Iverson officiating. Visitation will be held from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday, June 17, 2018, at the Hindt Funeral Home in Grand Meadow and will continue for one hour prior to the service.
