Barbara Mosher, 83, of Spring Valley, Minnesota, passed away peacefully in her sleep Saturday, June 2, 2018, at Spring Valley Living Center after a courageous 15-year battle with cancer.

Barbara Ann Terbeest was born July 21, 1934, in Forestville Township, Minnesota, to Loren and Bernice (Hamlin) Terbeest. She grew up in rural Spring Valley, graduating from Spring Valley High School in 1952. On May 6, 1956, she was united in marriage to Gordon Mosher in Spring Valley and divorced after 44 years of marriage.

Barbara worked as a private music teacher from age 18 until April 2018 (67 years), when she entered the Spring Valley Living Center. Barbara was also a part of the Roy Lillie and the Little Green Valley Gang band from 1952-1955. They played on Austin TV on Saturday evenings. Barbara mastered the steel guitar, which is very difficult to play. She was the first woman to play her steel guitar at the 14th annual Northeast Iowa Steel Guitar Jam in Waterloo, Iowa, in 2006. She was also a member of the Cowboy Church band of Cherry Grove.

She was an amazing woman who could do anything she set her mind to. Barbara enjoyed teaching guitar, piano, and accordion to students ages 5-90, cooking, baking, and loved spending time with her family, friends and students. Barbara always had a meal or baked goods to share with any visitors. Barbara enjoyed traveling to Branson, Missouri, for over 40 years. She was a lifelong member of the Faith United Methodist Church in Spring Valley and was a member of the Spring Valley American Legion Auxiliary.

Barbara is survived by one daughter, Janelle (Rick) Mosher-Rowe of Spring Valley; one son, Tom (Kim) Mosher of Spring Valley; grandchildren, Stephanie (Cameron) Laqua, Mitchell (Katie) Mosher and Heather (Emery) Swartzentruber; five great-grandchildren, Wyatt, Chase, Kalli, Deztin and Mandy; three step-grandchildren; eight step-great-grandchildren; dear friend, Lanny Serverson; brother, Larry (Arlys) Terbeest; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services for Barbara will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, June 7, 2018, at Faith United Methodist Church in Spring Valley. Visitation will be held 5-8 p.m. on Wednesday at Faith United Methodist Church and will continue one hour prior to the service on Thursday. Burial will be in the Spring Valley Cemetery following the service. Memorials will be dispersed by the family to the many associations Barbara has chosen.
