The Austin softball team couldn’t hang on to a late lead as it lost to Winona (8-5 overall) 6-2 on the road Tuesday.

The Packers (9-7 overall, 6-6 Big Nine) held a 2-1 lead in the sixth inning when Winona hit a solo homer to tie the game at 2-2. The Winhawks added four more runs as Austin committed a couple of costly errors.

Kyra Walters and Hannah McMasters each had an RBI for Austin, which will host Winona for a rematch on 5 p.m. Friday.
