Spam and chicken product recalled; Complaints of metal objects found

Hormel Food Corp. has announced a recall of Spam and another product after complaints of metal objects being found by consumers.

According to a press release from the U.S. Department of Agriculture, the Food Safety and Inspection Service reported that it had received four complaints from consumers of the foreign objects.

There have been reports of minor oral injuries associated with the consumption of Spam and Hormel Foods Black-Label Luncheon Loaf that had these objects. Both can be identified with a “Best By” date of February 2021.

The products were produced Feb. 8-10 at Hormel’s Fremont, Nebraska plant.

Those products subject to recall bear establishment number “EST. 199N.” Production codes associated with the Spam products are F020881, F020882, F020883, F020884, F020885, F020886, F020887, F020888 and F020889. Production codes for the Black-Label Luncheon Loaf are F02098 and F02108.

In the press release, the FSIS urges those who have purchased these items should not consume them and should either throw them away or return them to place they were purchased.
