Packer baseball team holds off Mankato East

The Austin baseball team beat Mankato East (4-3 overall, 4-3 Big Nine) 7-5 on the road Tuesday.

Austin (4-1 overall, 3-1 Big Nine) led 7-2 going into the bottom of the fifth inning as the Cougars scored one run in the fifth and two runs in the sixth.

“The guys battled through some adversity with guys in our lineup out with injuries,” Austin head coach Joe Kroc said. “I’m very proud of our offensive approaches as we faced one of the better pitchers in the Big Nine. This was a great win for us.”

Phillip Zynda went three-for-four with a double for Austin.
