Travis Robert Nord, 35, of Dexter was charged on Tuesday in Mower County District Court with felony domestic assault.

According to court documents, Mower County deputies were dispatched at 8:22 p.m. on Saturday to a residence in the 69000 block of 225th Street in Grand Meadow Township. They found a woman and a juvenile male sitting near a campfire. The woman said Nord had “tripped” the juvenile to prevent him from leaving the residence and had taken the juvenile’s car keys.

The juvenile said he told Nord he wouldn’t mow the lawn and Nord “kicked” his leg, causing him to fall and scrape his right elbow area, according to court documents. The deputies photographed the injuries.

The deputies then spoke to Nord, who said he “tripped (the juvenile) and put him in his spot” for being defiant, not listening and walking away when he was told to do something, according to court documents.

A review of Nord’s criminal history shows prior convictions for fleeing a peace officer in a motor vehicle, obstructing the legal process, malicious punishment of a child and violating a domestic abuse no contact order.

Nord will appear in court again on June 4.
