Graham Mathew Bongard, 51, of Austin was charged on Tuesday in Mower County District Court with felony domestic assault.

According to the court complaint, police, acting on a report that a woman might be in danger, were dispatched at 11:35 a.m. on Saturday to the 200 block of First Street Southeast. When they arrived, Bongard was sitting on the steps outside the apartment while a woman was inside crying, She allegedly told police that Bongard was “terrifying” her by repeatedly raising his hands as if he was going to punch her. She said he had previously assaulted her.

Bongard told police the woman was on a “binge” using methamphetamine, according to the complaint. He denied assaulting her, saying “nothing physical” occurred.
