Hayfield’s Wagner will play in the NCAA softball tournament

Hayfield’s Dani Wagner had a big weekend with the University of Minnesota softball as the Gophers locked up their third straight Big Ten Tournament title and they clinched a trip to the NCAA tournament.
The Gophers (39-15 overall) beat Northwestern 9-4 in the title game Sunday, making them the second team in Big Ten History to win three straight conference tournaments and the first team to so since Michigan did from 1996-1998.
Wagner had a homer, a triple and two RBIs in the title game and she was three-for-eight with a double, a triple and three RBIs to go with two walks on the weekend as she was named to the All-Tournament Team.
Wagner and the Gophers will open NCAA tournament play in the Seattle Regional when Minnesota takes on Texas at 8 p.m. Friday. The game can be viewed live on ESPN.
Wagner, a senior center fielder, played in the NCAA tournament in all of her four seasons as a Gopher.
