A Hayfield Elementary student was one of 20 placers in the Minnesota DARE Statewide Poster Contest.

Fifth-grader Breanna Subbert’s poster placed her eighth in the state among hundreds of entries. Dodge County Sheriff’s deputy Dave Skadson nominated her.

This year’s theme was “We CARE for our community that is why we have DARE.”

The overall winner was a student from Byron.

All the winning posters were displayed at the state capitol the week of April 23.
