Hayfield softball team hits four home runs in win over BP

The No. 1 seeded Hayfield softball team opened its Section 1A tournament with a bang as it beat No. 4 Blooming Prairie (8-9 overall) 15-3 in five innings in Hayfield Tuesday.

The Vikings (11-7 overall) led 12-0 after the first inning. Kyal Heydt and Kate Kruger each had three-run homers for the Vikings and Jaelynn Therring had two first inning homers.

Hayfield will take on No. 2 Waterville-Elysian-Morristwown in Todd Park at 5 p.m. on Thursday. BP will play Faribault Bethlehem Academy in an elimination game in Todd Park at 5 p.m. Thursday.

BP knocked off Lyle-Pacelli (9-6 overall) 8-2 to start off the day.
