Hayfield baseball team wins its final HVL game

The Hayfield baseball team wrapped up its regular season with a 7-3 win over Lake City in nine innings on the road Monday.

It was the final HVL contest for Hayfield, which will move to the Gopher conference next season.

Jake Risius came up with the go ahead RBI in the top of then ninth for Hayfield. Luke Dudycha picked  up the win for the Vikings and Zach Nelson allowed just one run in the first five innings.

“Our pitchers threw just 98 pitches in nine innings tonight,” Hayfield head coach Kasey Krekling said. “They were very effective.”

Hayfield (14-6 overall) is the top seed in the Section 1A West tournament and it will open postseason play at Riverland on 10 a.m. Saturday.
