Best Bets: A weekend full of tournaments

The Section 1A and Section 1AAA Softball Tournaments will be held Thursday at Todd Park.

Austin will be playing Northfield at 4 p.m., while Hayfield will play Waterville-Elysian-Morristown and Blooming Prairie will play Faribault Bethlehem Academy at 5 p.m.

The Section 1A and Section 1AAA Baseball Tournaments will be held on Saturday at Riverland Community College.

Austin and Hayfield will play against yet to be determined opponents. Games will be played at 10 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. on both fields.

Friday

• Austin Community Playgroup – Chalk Party, 10 a.m. at Austin Congregational UCC. Come and meet other parents, caregivers, and children in an informal, friendly, and fun environment. • American Red Cross Blood Drive, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Mayo Clinic Health System. The public is asked to schedule an appointment to help ensure that hospitals and patients have the blood they need this summer. Make an appointment to donate blood by downloading the free Red Cross Blood Donor App, visiting RedCrossBlood.org or calling 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767).

• ArtRocks Open Jam Session, 7 p.m. at the Austin ArtWorks Center. The house band sets up and hosts the event. Players bring their guitars, basses, horns, sticks, keyboards, washboards, etc, and singers and songwriters bring themselves, their words, and their voices. The house band will ‘back’ individual jammers, and allow for groups of jammers to get up and play. ArtRocks events are open to friends and family members of jammers, as well as the public.
