The Austin boys tennis team lost to Rochester Century 7-0 on the road Thursday.
Austin’s Joey Schamel lost his No. 4 singles match 7-5, 6-3 to Leo Sakuma. The Packers are now 5-7 overall and 4-7 in the Big Nine.
“We lost to a really good team today, one of the best in Minnesota,” Austin head coach Jeff Anderson said. “We had some matches that were closer than the scores would show. Joey Schammel played a singles match today and really challenged his opponent. It is good to see him play in that spot and have some success because he is going to be a big piece of our future teams.”
Austin will compete in the Big Nine tennis tournament Saturday in Rochester.
