Wastewater plants receive awards

The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) has recognized 295 Minnesota wastewater treatment facilities for maintaining outstanding permit compliance from October 2016 through September 2017.

MPCA’s Assistant Commissioner of Water Policy Shannon Lotthammer presented certificates and praised award recipients for their persistent work and dedication to protecting water quality.

Area towns earning awards include: Austin, Adams, Blooming Prairie, Brownsdale, Dexter, Grand Meadow and Hayfield and Lyle.

To be eligible for this recognition, facilities were required to submit all reports to the MPCA correctly and on time, demonstrate consistent compliance through monitoring, operations, and maintenance, and employ staff certified by the MPCA in wastewater operations.
