Spring storm coming

Just in case you missed winter, take heart: A spring storm with all the hallmarks of winter is coming — again —  according to the National Weather Service in LaCrosse, Wisconsin.

A wintry mix of snow, wind and rain will march into the area tonight and stall over the area through the weekend.

Rain will turn to freezing rain and snow later tonight, according to the NWS, persisting through Saturday and then transitioning to mostly snow on Sunday.

Most of the expected ice will occur overnight tonight through Saturday morning, with the potential for a quarter inch or more in the Interstate 90 corridor.

Snow totals are expected to range between 4 to 7 inches before the system passes. Winds gusting up toward 40 mph are also expected.

Travel is expected to become difficult later tonight and at times through the weekend.
