Senior citizens injured by pick-up truck

Gold Cross Ambulance Service paramedics treated two senior citizens after they were hit by a pick-up truck on Saturday afternoon.

According to Austin Police Chief Brian Krueger, officers responded to a call at 4:20 p.m. on Saturday at the Walmart parking lot. A pick-up truck that was backing up out of a spot struck two senior citizens, an 86-year-old man and 81-year-old woman, both of Austin.

The driver of the truck, a 71-year-old woman from rural Austin, said her foot slipped off the brake, causing the accident.

Gold Cross Ambulance Service arrived on the scene and treated the victims. A state accident report was filled out. Krueger could not verify if the victims were taken to the hospital.

No citations were issued.
