Two vehicles were destroyed in a garage fire early Wednesday morning.

According to Mower County Sheriff Terese Amazi, there was a call of a detached garage fire at about 1 a.m. on Wednesday at 30088 525th Avenue just south of Blooming Prairie. A deputy arrived on the scene and was told by the home’s owners, Galen and Dorothy Peterson, that they woke up and noticed the garage was on fire.

The Blooming Prairie Fire Department responded to the scene and extinguished the fire. Blooming Prairie Fire Chief Dean Naatz confirmed the fire had started in a fire ring near the garage.

No injuries were reported and no citations were issued. Two vehicles in the garage, and the garage itself, are total losses.
