The Austin City Council will consider bids to Hansen Hauling and Excavating, Inc. for street reconstruction projects during its next regular meeting on Monday.

Public Works Director Steven Lang will recommend the contract got to the company for the 14th and 15th Avenue Southwest project. The Austin company came in as the lowest bidder with a price of $567,762.50. Lang will also recommend the contract be awarded to Hansen for the Woodson School Area project — consisting of Fifth and Seventh Streets Southeast, Eighth Drive Southeast and 15th Avenue Southeast — at a bid price of $569,343.75.

The projects will be paid for with money from the capital improvement, waste water treatment plant and stormwater utility funds.

The council will also review and vote to adopt a proposed sump pump ordinance. The ordinance provides details on a citywide sump pump inspection program the city wants to implement. A public hearing on the sump pump ordinance is scheduled for April 17, pending council approval.

Planning and Zoning Administrator Holly Wallace will speak to the council about a proposed rental licensing and inspection ordinance during its regular work session following the meeting.

Wallace will discuss requests from the Housing and Redevelopment Authority of Austin regarding inspection approval and inspection frequency under the ordinance, which has been in development for several months.

The council will meet at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, April 2, in the City Council Chambers, located in the basement of City Hall. The work session will be held immediately following the meeting in the conference room across the hall.
