Local students head to History Day contest

Several Pacelli students will be part of the Southeast Regional History Day competition  today at Winona State University.

They will be part of a group of 200 students from schools throughout southeastern Minnesota who will present their History Day exhibits, documentaries, websites and performances.

Those who win at this contest will advance to the State History Day on April 28 at the University of Minnesota.

State winners are eligible to compete at National History Day in June in Washington, DC.

The students and their topics are,

•Richana Stone and Shelby Jenkins, junior group, “Minnesota in the Civil War.”

•Axel Aguilar, Ervin Noyola and Luis Hernandez, senior individual documentary, “USA and Japan.”

•Allison Srp and Caitlin Drees, junior group exhibit, “Crimean War.”

•Melany Rosas Hernandez, junior individual exhibit, “Roe v. Wade.”

•Rory Bickler, senior individual website, “Striking a Match: Clara Lemlich and the Uprising of the 20,000.”
